Our work is not all commercial. But over the years, we have worked for some exclusive brands, well-known general contractors and institutions as well as leading property management companies – as either a direct contractor or a specialty subcontractor.
Some Typical Examples
For example, a property manager of one of MIT’s buildings called us up. He requested a quote on a polished concrete floor. Surprisingly, this was well before we advertised that we do concrete polishing. But he knew that, in reality, the diamond abrasive pads we use for marble polishing are basically the same as concrete polishing pads. As a matter of fact, the grit system is the same and anyone who polishes marble floors can easily adapt to grinding and polishing concrete.
His job was challenging because the floor was covered in glued down carpet. So, since no other trade was available to do the demo, we had to remove the carpet, grind the glue off and only then could we actually start the concrete polishing process. The extra steps, together with the fairly tight time frame, made the job challenging. In the end, though, we finished on time as well as on budget. The manager appreciated our efforts. “Thanks again, Clay, for the good work” he wrote at the end of the job.
As another example, we’ve worked several times for a property management company in Beacon Hill. The assignments were as varied as the different properties, including marble polishing of common area lobbies and stairs, repairing cracked tiles, and cleaning ceramic tile and grout. Of course, the challenges of working in this part of town mean you never find good parking spaces – you just have to deal with it. (And we have the parking tickets to prove it!!) So we appreciate the letter of reference one of the property managers wrote for us. If you click on the image, you’ll get a full sized version.
After Hours Schedules
An assisted living facility Traditions of Dedham got in touch with us for some tile floor regrouting services. Specifically, they had an upcoming inspection of their facility, including their commercial kitchen with quarry tile. But the grout was becoming harder and harder to keep clean enough for their high corporate standards. Naturally, commercial kitchens in this setting never get a ‘day off’, so the only time they were closed was late at night. As a result, we had to work the graveyard shift and upgrade the grout to a bright, fresh look with epoxy grout.
